INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE A CRINKLE TOY

Supplies Needed:
(1) 8" square (or size you want)
(1) 8" square minky (or backing)
(1) 9-10" square crinkle paper
Thread
Scissors
Ribbon and Trim optional

Step 1: Cut your top fabric to desire length. I like to do mine at 8" square however anything between 5"-10" will work. You can do any shape it does not need to be square.  Add ribbons, or any trim now. The long ribbon on the end is a pacifier clip holder, it is used for attaching this toy to car seats, strollers and shopping carts.

Step 2: Sew the back onto the front. Leave a 2" inch opening to turn right side out.

Leave a 2" opening on one side.

Step 3: Cut the crinkle material at least 1/2- 1" larger than your project. If you do not do this your toy will not produce a very good sound.

Step 4: Activate the crinkle by crunching it into a ball.

Step 4:  Press Flatt

Step 5: Lay the crinkle square so that it lines up with the top material (cat in the hat). You will tack down about 2-3" only in the corner. DO NOT SEW THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF CRINKLE PAPER. You only need to tack down the corners.

Step 6: Pull the crinkle paper up so you can do the next corner. Repeat all edges. Crinkle paper will bulge in the center and will not lay flat if you did it correct.

Step 7: Cut the threads if you haven't done it yet.

See how it bunches up in the center. This is my secret to produce the crunchy crackle sound.

Step 8: Turn right side out. You may need to adjust the crinkle paper so that it is on all 4 corners of toy.

Step 9: Sew a decorate stitch around the edge and a straight edge stitch at the 2" opening.

Step 10: Use a lighter or a candle to melt the edges of the ribbons. Be careful that it does not catch on fire.
